AcademyHealth’s State Health Research and Policy (SHRP) Interest Group is pleased to announce a call for abstracts for the group’s 2014 annual meeting in San Diego.* This call for abstracts offers researchers, policymakers, and practitioners the opportunity to share recent state-level research and policy developments regarding coverage and access, the challenges of financing and payment reform, and the organization and delivery of care – all with an emphasis on the unique challenges of working within a state policy and political environment.
Abstracts that demonstrate novel approaches to addressing state policy research needs, effective strategies for collaborating with state agencies and policy decision makers, and promising strategies for translating research to policy are also sought. Additionally, the Interest Group is seeking abstracts that focus on various data/methods approaches applied to state-level research and that address the broader policy issues outlined below. Finally, the Interest Group welcomes abstracts that communicate successful strategies, as well as those which critically analyze sub-optimal approaches, but offer useful lessons and highlight opportunities for improvement.
Research and policy papers of particular interest include those that address:
- Coverage/access,
- Payment reform/incentive realignment, or
- Delivery system transformation/quality improvement.

* The SHRP Interest Group Annual Meeting is held in conjunction with AcademyHealth’s Annual Research Meeting (ARM). The Interest Group call for abstracts is distinct from that of the ARM. Abstracts may be submitted to both meetings and are reviewed separately.
