New eGEMs Special Issue Shares Community-Based Strategies for Implementing Technology to Improve Health

Today eGEMs released a special issue that – for the first time – highlights lessons learned from eight Beacon Communities including how they used health information technology (Health IT) to achieve better health care at lower costs. eGEMs (Generating Evidence & Methods to improve patient outcomes) is a free, open access, peer-reviewed publication produced by the Electronic Data Methods (EDM) Forum that shares innovative approaches to using electronic clinical data for health research and quality improvement.

The special issue titled, “Lessons from the Field: Health IT-Enabled Community-Based Transformation,” is sponsored by The Commonwealth Fund and AcademyHealth’s Beacon Evidence and Innovation Network and provides community-based Health IT strategies to improve health at the community level.
