National Health Policy Conference: February 7-8, 2011 — Washington, D.C.

The National Health Policy Conference (NHPC) is your first opportunity to find out directly from health care leaders about their plans for overcoming challenges and implementing health care reform in 2011. State Health Policy Breakfast: February 8

AcademyHealth’s State Health Research and Policy (SHRP) Interest Group will host a free policy breakfast meeting, “How to Engage and Inform the Public about Federal and State Health Reform: What Needs to be Communicated and What Are Potentially Successful Strategies.” This session will address the challenge of state-level implementation decisions where increased public scrutiny requires ongoing efforts to engage and inform the public. Panelists will discuss polls, communication strategies, and lessons from Oregon’s efforts in state-based reform implementation.

This event is held in conjunction with the National Health Policy Conference (NHPC) at the JW Marriott Washington, D.C., on February 8 from 7:00-8:45 a.m.  There is no fee to attend, but registration is required. Register online through the NHPC website.

Call for Papers: SHRP Interest Group Annual Meeting
Submission Deadline: February 15, 2011

The SHRP Interest Group is seeking papers for oral presentation at its annual meeting, June 11 in Seattle. Papers that demonstrate innovative approaches to addressing state policy research needs, sound applied policy research methods, effective strategies for collaborating with state agencies and policy decision makers, and promising communication tools will be considered for presentation.

All papers will undergo blind peer review. In assessing the significance and appropriateness of techniques and methods, reviewers will be particularly interested in abstracts that employ research, collaboration and communication strategies. Papers not selected for oral presentation will be considered for poster presentation. Notifications will be sent by late March.

Submissions must be received online by 5:00 p.m. EST on February 15, 2011 to be considered. For full submission instructions and research criteria, visit the SHRP website.
