SCI Hiring for Associate Position

 

The State Coverage Initiatives Program is seeking applicants for an associate.

Overview:

The associate would provide staff support for AcademyHealth's state technical assistance group primarily through the State Coverage Initiatives (SCI) program. The SCI program, a national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, provides timely, experience-based information and assistance to state leaders in order to help them move health care reform forward at the state level.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist program staff to provide technical assistance to states particularly on health reform implementation. This may include periodic travel to states.
  • Manage events including conference calls, webinars, large and small conferences for state policy makers, including agenda development, presenter coordination, and material preparation.
  • Develop and manage written technical assistance products or web-based content, including initiating ideas for products, conducting research, and writing.
  • Contribute to monthly e-newsletter on a routine basis, including writing articles and editing.
  • Track state efforts and maintain updated files.
  • Coordinate and work with other AcademyHealth programs related to state health research and policy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public policy, public administration, public health, or closely related field.
  • Three to five years work experience in health policy or health care; experience working in state health policy a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health reform issues particularly as they impact state-level policymaking and implementation.
  • A resourceful, adaptable, intellectually and emotionally mature individual, with good judgment, a diverse skill set, and demonstrated proficiency as an analyst and writer.
  • A detail-oriented individual able to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Sense of humor.

This is a Level 3 position.  The salary range is $45,000 to $60,000.
