The State Health Research and Policy Interest Group Meeting is June 2

The State Health Research and Policy Interest Group will meet June 2 from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. in Orlando. The meeting is designed to bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners interested in state-level health care issues. Featuring panels and poster presentations, as well as ample time for networking, this year's meeting will focus on:

  • Using data sets and methodological strategies to understand the impact of coverage policies;
  • Evaluating health care reform and the policymaking processes; and
  • Introducing the Commonwealth Fund’s State Scorecard on Health System Performance.

This State Scorecard session will begin with Commonwealth Fund Senior Vice President for Research and Evaluation Cathy Schoen, who will moderate and also present an overview of the Fund’s National Scorecard on Health System Performance. Joel Cantor, director of the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy, will present work his Center has been doing to create the State Scorecard. Joe Thompson, director of the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement and the Surgeon General of the State of Arkansas, and Alan Weil, director of the National Academy for State Health Policy, will provide state-level feedback on the measures and how states can use this information.
