State Representatives have voted to establish a quasi-public agency to launch and run a health insurance exchange.

Republican Gov. Robert Bentley issued an executive order on June 2, 2011 setting up an exchange study commission. The executive order does not establish an exchange governance structure but does move the state forward on its planning.
