SCI Policy Planning Grant

In 2005 the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCS) was awarded a SCI Policy Planning Grant. This grant was used to develop strategies to get employers to enroll in state coverage programs-a common problem states face when implementing public-private partnerships. AHCCCS is responsible for administering Arizona 's Medicaid and SCHIP (KidsCare) programs and the Healthcare Group of Arizona, an insurance program that offers coverage to small businesses with less than 50 employees, the self-employed, and political subdivisions.

AHCCCS seeks to develop an operational framework to link uninsured working individuals and families of small employers in two counties (Yuma and Cochise) with Healthcare Group coverage, including assisting families to obtain wrap-around coverage through KidsCare or directing them to other state or local coverage or discount programs.
