On November 29, 2011 Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Vermont received federal funding to help establish state-based health insurance excahnges.

Michigan's request for an adjustment of the Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) standard

Senate bill 693 would create a state based, non profit health insurance exchange, MIHealth Marketplace, and an exchange board.

Michigan is adding two more health insurance plans to its high risk insurance pool in an effort to cover more uninsured individuals with chronic illnesses. The new plans have lower premiums and higher deductibles compared to the plans currently offered, but all plans will offer the same coverage.

In August 2010, a team of researchers from the Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC), as part of the Community Tracking Study (CTS), visited the Lansing metropolitan area to study how health care is organized, financed and delivered in that community.
